Terms of Service

The rules for using Rolebound, plain language wherever possible.

1.Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or otherwise using Rolebound (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2.Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Rolebound.

3.Accounts

You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. One account per person. You agree to provide accurate information when registering.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, including through the moderation and ban system described below.

4.Your Content

You keep ownership of everything you create on Rolebound, character bios, journal entries, uploaded images, and anything else you post. By posting it, you grant Rolebound a license to store, display, and serve that content back to you and to other users as the Service's features require (for example, showing your journal entries in a community's Feed, or displaying your portrait on your character page).

You're responsible for making sure you have the rights to anything you upload. Don't post content that infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.

5.Content Rules

Rolebound is a roleplay platform, and creative, mature, or dark themes are part of that. Content warnings exist so people can make informed choices about what they read. That said, the following are never allowed, regardless of framing:

Use content warnings honestly on entries that need them. Any user can report content they believe violates these rules.

6.Moderation

Rolebound has a reporting system that lets any user flag content for review. Admins and designated moderators can remove content that violates these Terms and can suspend ("ban") accounts, with a reason provided. Banned accounts can submit an appeal, which an admin will review.

Moderation decisions are made at Rolebound's discretion. We aim to be fair and consistent, but we don't guarantee a particular outcome for any report or appeal.

7.Subscriptions & Payments

Rolebound offers a free tier and a paid Subscriber tier, billed on a recurring basis through Stripe. You can cancel anytime from your dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.

Subscribers can also create a Community for a separate one-time fee of $9.99, which is not a recurring charge.

All sales are final. Rolebound does not offer refunds for subscription payments or the Community creation fee, for any reason, except where required by law.

8.Communities

A Community you create is tied to your Subscriber status. If your subscription lapses, your Community is automatically unpublished, it becomes invisible to the public but stays intact and remains visible to you.

30-day window. If your subscription isn't reactivated within 30 days of a Community going inactive, that Community and everything in it (branding, updates, member list) is permanently deleted, and its URL becomes available for anyone else to claim. Reactivating your subscription within that window restores the Community exactly as it was.

9.Termination

You can delete your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you violate these Terms, at our discretion.

10.Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

Rolebound is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Rolebound isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

11.Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

12.Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Rolebound after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and what we do with it.

1.Information We Collect

When you use Rolebound, we collect:

3.Cookies

Rolebound uses a single session cookie to keep you logged in. It's necessary for the Service to function, there's no tracking or advertising cookies.

4.How We Use Information

We use your information to operate the Service: creating and displaying your character pages, sending emails you'd expect (like password resets), enforcing these Terms through moderation, and processing payments.
